Dear all, We hope you are all doing fine and coping well with the challenges we are all facing at the moment. The current corona pandemic has also affected the activities of the Centre for Cultural Psychology. Hereby a brief update.

Guest lectures and international visitors (coordinator: Carolin Demuth)

  1. The guest lecture by Prof. Laura Sterponi (Berkely University, USA) originally scheduled in March, 2020 in co-operation with the DFF Research Network: Transition and Sustainability of Communicative Competencies in Interactions Involving Young People with Communication Disabilities (TransComm) will be rescheduled.
  2. The guest lecture by Prof. Michael Bamberg (Clark University, USA) which we had planned for May 2020 will also be postponed.
  3. Prof. Hroar Klempe (NTNU Trondheim) will visit the centre in the fall semester in combination with a research stay at the Music department (inviting host: Mark Grimshaw) He will present work from his new project "Sound and Reason".

Innovations in Psychology Lecture (coordinator: Brady Wagoner)

This year’s lectures are scheduled to take place August 24-25 with the theme ‘Human Development in Social Context’.  The keynote address will be given by Charis Psaltis on ‘Genetic Social Psychology: A Once and Future Discipline,’ which will integrate micro-, onto- and socio-genesis using the Cyprus conflict as a case study.

Friday Symposia (coordinator: Bo Allesøe)

All Friday Symposia that were scheduled for the spring semester will be re-scheduled to the fall semester:

  • September 25: Bo Allesøe on Positioning Theory
  • October 30: Thessa Jensen on Fandom and Fanculture
  • November 27: Carolin Demuth on Dialogism

Winter school (coordinator: Carolin Demuth)

In co-operation with the Sigmund Freud University Berlin (Meike Watzlawik), Sigmund Freud University Vienna (Dominik Mihaltis) and the Free University Berlin (Thomas Stodulka), we are planning to launch a regular winter school on Cultural Psychology that will rotate between the participating universities. It will be a continuation of the first winter school that took place at SFU Berlin in 2018. In light of the present situation, the start will be scheduled for 2021. More details will follow.
